With the climate changing so rapidly, we now more than ever need climate science that can produce actionable information for resource managers. Collaboration between scientists and practitioners is critical to expand climate science in new and more use-inspired directions.
As part of a collaborative project, our researchers work to provide insights to regional practitioners on the usability of current climate science and to improve climate models for management-relevant outcomes. CESD experts are developing broadly applicable tools to help scientists and stakeholders produce actionable science together. In California specifically, researchers work to study how well models capture atmospheric river events to inform water supply and management.
