Julia Szinai

Julia Szinai is a Research Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Area, pursuing her research interests in coupled energy and water systems. She previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow and a graduate student researcher in a number of different areas of Berkeley Lab, evaluating the energy footprint related to water and the role of energy storage, demand response, and electric vehicles in grid decarbonization. Julia earned her PhD in Energy and Resources at UC Berkeley, and also holds a MS in Energy and Resources, a Masters of Public Policy, and a BA in economics and Spanish from UC Berkeley. Prior to graduate studies, she consulted in the energy and finance sectors and also worked at Pacific Gas & Electric in long-term resource planning and forecasting.
