On June 4, Lara Kueppers, a faculty Scientist in the Climate and Ecosystem Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Assistant Professor in the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley participated in a panel on Drought Impacts on Forests and Expected Wildfire Behavior at the UC Wildfire Research Symposium. The half-day event was developed by UC Research and Innovation to explore how the cutting-edge work of experts from UC’s campuses and national labs can help California achieve its wildfire resilience and recovery goals. The event received great reviews on social media as shown below.

Kueppers uses field observations and experiments, as well as climate and biosphere models, to investigate climate-ecosystem feedbacks, vegetation dynamics, and the effects of agriculture on the atmosphere. She is the Deputy Director of DOE’s Next Generation Ecosystem Experiments – Tropics (NGEE-Tropics) project.
