Neslihan Taş is an environmental microbial ecologist, group leader, and a Staff Scientist in the Climate & Ecosystems Division at Berkeley Lab. Dr. Taş studies microbial transformation of natural and anthropogenic carbon in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. She received her Ph.D. and MSc from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Dr. Taş’s current research projects span from studying the impact of climate change on soil microbial functions in the Arctic to the fate of terrestrial carbon in aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Taş’s expertise lies in the applications of multi-omic technologies to understand microbial function in the environment.
Dr. Taş currently serves as a Laboratory Lead PI in the multi-institutional DOE project NGEE Arctic, an editorial board member in FEMS Microbial Ecology, and an associate editor in Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research.
